Arizona WASH Program Specialist at Water For People
Nieves is passionate about water access and community-centered science. They currently work at Water For People as the Arizona WASH Program Specialist. In their role they write curriculum and build strategy plans for bridging the water access gap in the US, and work with Environmental Defense Fund, Arizona Water For All (ASU), and Reconciliacion en el Rio Santa Cruz for the Water Leadership Institute. Previously, they were a graduate research assistant at the Indigenous Resilience Center at the University of Arizona. They also interned with the National Park Service (Grand Canyon NP) and the NPS – Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (NPS-RTCA) Program for the Inter-Mountain Region from 2021-2023. They collect vinyl records/CDs and you can find them drawing whenever they’re not out in nature.
