Carol Jordão

Carol is an environmental manager and facilitator from Brazil. She has been working in environmental governance in the Amazon for the past 13 years, including work with local and international NGOs, the University of Florida’s Tropical Conservation and Development Program, and as a consultant at Colevo Passiflora Socioambiental. She has worked with a diverse set of stakeholders, mainly in the Brazilian Amazon but also in other countries, focusing on bridging conservation and development through stakeholder engagement, social participation, environmental education and communication, and capacity building of local actors. She has also worked with infrastructure governance, mainly around the socio-environmental impacts of dams and in creating communities of practice and learning among researchers, praconers, and community-based organizations. Her doctoral research focused on cultural and organizational factors that influence the work of socio-environmental NGOs in the Brazilian Amazon, including funding, collaboration, social learning, and identity. She is currently the co-facilitator of the Rede de Capacitação da Amazônia (Recam) network and part of the content committee of WCN’s Rising Wildlife Leaders - Amazonia Program
